Welcome to Dixie Gardener –
Information and advice for the Southern Utah region.

Dixie Gardener is your best source for gardening information in southwestern Utah.

With a range in elevation from 2,000 to nearly 10,000 feet and an annual precipitation rate of only eight inches, Utah’s “Dixie” presents some interesting challenges for gardeners.

Everything from planting dates for vegetables to drought tolerant plants for your landscape can be found on our Web site.

How much water does your lawn need this week?

Our weather station data can help you determine how much water your lawn needs this week, based on the amount of sunshine and rain over the past seven days. To find out, click the link for the station nearest you: St. George Parks or Coral Canyon and look for this week's turf watering requirement, which is displayed just above the table.

Master Gardeners

For those who really want to get involved in “community gardening” Utah State University teaches a Master Gardener course each year. Many of our Master Gardeners also support the activities of our Water Conservation Garden as well as the Dixie Garden Club. There are lots of opportunities to learn about horticulture as well as give back something to the community.
